Why Bit Academy is different

We train for work, not for exams.

Four promises we never negotiate on, and why they work.

01

Education for the real work

We don't train for an exam. We train for the work you'll do afterwards. Real assignments, real deadlines, real feedback. What you learn here you'll use tomorrow.

02

Learning by doing

Watching videos doesn't make you a programmer, just as watching piano doesn't make you a pianist. Our exercises force you to build yourself, step by step, always with a concrete result.

03

Honest feedback, always

Code gets better under critical eyes. Our coaches say what they actually think. Not to knock you down, but to move you forward. We don't do fake compliments.

04

Flexible at your rhythm

You set your pace. We don't do fixed schedules. Put in a heavy week or a quiet one. As long as you make progress, we're happy.

Learn by building

No video library. A place where you actually build.

NexEd is our own learning platform: 400+ assignments, automatic feedback on code, visible skill levels. You work in NexEd at school, at home, on the train, between shifts. Start as a Front-end Rookie, finish with an end project employers want to see.

  • Code directly in NexEd, no install drama
  • Visible skill levels: from Rookie to Pro, per language and per stack
  • Automatic checks that catch mistakes before your coach looks at them
  • The same environment across Bachelor, Pro and bootcamps

How it works

From intake to first job

No career-lab full of forms. Four clear steps, and a coach who walks every one of them with you.

01

Book an intro call

A free 30-minute call, online or on location. Where are you, what do you want, which route fits? Sometimes we'll advise you to start elsewhere. Honest beats polite.

02

Complete the intake

The intake differs per route. MBO and HBO include admission requirements and follow-up conversations; Pro has a short assessment of your starting level. Together we map where you stand and which route fits.

03

Learn by building

400+ hands-on assignments in our own platform. Personal 1-on-1 check-ins with your coach. Contact with your cohort. Your pace, your goals, we keep you sharp.

04

Start your career

Internship, final project or direct applications via our employer network. From career switcher to Bachelor graduate: we guide you to, and often past, your first job.

What learning looks like

Small assignments. Direct progress.

Inside every module it's clear what to do next: a practical assignment, a diagnostic check, a clear time estimate. No vagueness about "this week's chapter". At any moment you know the next step.

  • Bite-sized tasks of 10 to 40 minutes
  • Practice before theory: you learn by building
  • Self-diagnostics that expose gaps before you get stuck
  • Reward points that make your progress visible

Coaches & alumni

The people behind the programme.

Our coaches ship code themselves every week, give honest feedback and keep you sharp. Six voices, one from each team.

The coolest thing about this programme? Students pick their own direction: frontend, backend, data, AI. My job is mostly sharpening that choice and keeping them challenged.

The people I coach come from hospitality, healthcare, construction. Six months later they're shipping production code. It's tough, and that's exactly why it works.

I think it matters that you see yourself moving forward week to week. Set goals together, review code, do it again next week. Not magical, but what actually works.

Our HBO isn't a theory exam. We teach the language, the patterns, the trade-offs. In your first year you're already contributing to real systems. That's the difference.

Working professionals come to Pro because they want more than tutorials. Honest feedback, every week. That's what keeps them in, not the videos.

Your learning path

Everything you build comes together in one final project.

Every exercise, every skill, every module hangs on a visible path: from your first line of code to a final project employers want to see. You see where you stand, what's next, and which work ends up in your portfolio.

  • One visible path per route: Bachelor, Pro or bootcamp
  • Stacking skills: every node builds on what you can already do
  • A final project you can put live on GitHub
  • The same motivation structure whether you're 21 or 47

A place to learn

Online if you want. On location when it helps.

Our studios in Amsterdam, Purmerend and Groningen aren't classrooms. They're workspaces with coffee, tall tables and people building what you're building. Come by when you're stuck, stay home when you're in flow.

Frequently asked questions

What students ask us most

A selection from our full FAQ. Not finding your question? Send us a message. We usually reply within one working day.

Do I need to know how to program before I start?

No. Almost every route requires no prior experience. In the intake call and a short intake assignment we mainly assess how you think, not what you already know.

Am I too old to switch careers?

Our students are 17 to 55. The average bootcamp student is 31. Programming takes logical thinking and persistence. Neither of which has an expiry date.

Is Bit Academy officially recognised?

Yes. Our Bachelor Software Developer is nationally accredited. Bootcamps award an HBO-recognised certificate. We hold the NRTO quality mark and are CRKBO-registered: both independent quality standards for private training providers in the Netherlands.

Can my employer help fund my training?

Very often yes, especially for Bit Academy Pro and sometimes for bootcamps. We'll provide a tailored business quote and supporting rationale for training budgets. Email us and you'll have the document within one working day.
