Choose Bit Academy at one of our two locations: Horizon College in Purmerend or Noorderpoort in Groningen.

To start at the Bit Academy, sign up for the courses at one of the schools we work with.

Make the selection test
In this test, we look at your analytical ability and give you an idea of what programming means. The test takes a few hours.

An intake interview with a Bit Academy coach
Review the structure of your studies, costs and expectations as a student with a Bit Academy coach. Based on your results of the selection test and interview, it will be decided whether you are suitable for the course.

Admission Requirements

At Bit Academy, we keep things simple. For us, it's about customization and your success.
What are the degree requirements?

This is a course at MBO level 4. You need at least one of these diplomas for these courses:

  • Vmbo framework
  • Vmbo mixed learning path
  • Vmbo theoretical learning path
  • Basic vocational training (level 2) or a diploma from another vocational course (level 3)
  • HAVO or VWO transition certificate from class 3 to 4
Can I follow the course without the appropriate diplomas?

Are you not sure whether you can follow this course with your diploma or transition certificate? Take contact join us, and we'll look at it together.

How old do I have to be to start this course?

You must be at least 16 years old by August 1 to take this course.

Can I take this course full-time or part-time?

You follow this course full-time. You will receive 3 years of lessons and practice at level 4. Depending on your previous education and development, you can also complete the course more quickly. With us, you work at your own pace.

Is the course in Dutch or English?

The course is entirely in Dutch; a command of the Dutch language is required to follow the course.

Costs

At Bit Academy, you follow a private course. Here are the most important costs to consider:

Tuition

  • Full-time: €1,419 for the 2024/2025 academic year
  • Do you pay yourself? You may be able to apply for an additional DUO grant. More info about financial aid? Check Duo's additional grant.

Training costs

Before you start your education, you will receive a list of educational resources and materials you need, such as books, licenses, and a laptop with necessary specifications. The costs vary by educational institution. Check your educational institution's website to see what these costs are. You must purchase these educational resources.

Travel expenses

You have all the rights to an MBO course, including a student travel product.

Laptop

You have a laptop with at least 16GB of memory, 256GB of storage, and a modern operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux). Suitable laptops usually cost between €1,000 and €1,500.
