Which situation matches yours?
Beginner without experience
You have no programming background and want to become a Web Developer. All three routes start at beginner level; your choice depends on time, intensity and whether you want an accredited degree.
Need to be job-ready quickly
You can study full time and want to work as a developer within a year. Pick the Full Stack Bootcamp.
Working professional
You already have a job in another field and want to switch into development without quitting. Pro Full Stack fits self-paced study alongside work.
Degree seeker
You want an accredited HBO bachelor diploma. Pick HBO Online Software Engineering.
What does a Web Developer do?
A Web Developer builds websites and web applications. It's a broad role: some focus on the visual side (front-end), others on the logic and databases behind it (back-end), and others do both (full stack). 'Web Developer' is more an umbrella term than a single defined profile.
In practice you work with HTML, CSS and JavaScript on the front-end, and a server-side language (PHP, Python, Node, Go) plus a database on the back-end. Modern web developers work in teams, use Git for version control and deploy via CI/CD to cloud platforms.
Which route fits 'I want to become a web developer'?
For most 'I want to become a web developer' searches, Full Stack fits best. You learn the whole chain, are broadly hireable as a junior, and can specialise later. The Bootcamp does this full time in a year; the Pro route does this alongside work, self-paced.
Torn between Pro and Bootcamp? The choice is mostly about time and intensity. Bootcamp = 32+ hours/week and junior-ready in a year. Pro = self-paced alongside work, typically 15–24 months. Both deliver a recognised certificate and portfolio.
Web Developer vs Front-end, Back-end and Full Stack
Front-end and back-end are sub-fields within web development. Full-stack developers do both. In many job postings 'Web Developer' is equivalent to Full Stack — your employer expects you to handle at least the basics of both sides.
Want to specialise? See Pro Frontend or Pro Backend. We usually recommend starting with Full Stack, choosing a focus later. A specialised junior is harder to place than a broadly-hireable one.
Pro, Bootcamp and HBO are not the same
Each track type has its own proposition. Below you'll see what each one stands for.
Pro
Online, self-paced, alongside work. 15–24 months, €59.99/month. Recognised Pro certificate plus portfolio. Fits working professionals and people moving forward.
Bootcamp
Full time, 32+ hours/week, 100% remote. 6–12 months. HBO-recognised certificate (30 EC). Three-month placement included.
HBO
Accredited HBO bachelor Software Engineering, 100% online. 4 years (240 EC). For MBO-4 / HAVO / VWO entrants or 21+ with admissions test.
